Full-Time STEM Tutor

Position Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Full-Time STEM Tutor to support K–12 students across a range of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math subjects. The ideal candidate will have a degree in a STEM-related field, strong instructional skills, and experience with advanced academic programs such as AP, IB, and standardized test preparation (SAT, ACT). This role requires an ability to tailor instruction to diverse learning needs and academic levels, from foundational concepts to college-level coursework.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide one-on-one and small group tutoring in a range of STEM subjects, including:
    • Mathematics: Algebra I & II, Geometry, Trigonometry, Pre-Calculus, Calculus (AP AB/BC), Statistics (including AP), and IB Mathematics (SL/HL)
    • Sciences: Biology, Chemistry, Physics (including AP and IB levels)
    • Technology & Engineering: Introductory computer science (e.g., Python, Java), engineering fundamentals, and robotics (if applicable)
  • Customize instruction based on student curricula, learning objectives, and academic tracks (Regular, Honors, AP, IB).
  • Support students in preparing for classroom assessments, standardized exams (SAT, ACT), and external assessments such as AP and IB exams.
  • Identify learning gaps and deliver targeted, subject-specific remediation.
  • Maintain clear and consistent communication with students, families, and academic staff to track progress and adjust learning strategies.
  • Develop curricula and share custom learning materials, such as study guides, problem sets, lab review sheets, or coding exercises, especially for Olympiads, AP and IB curricula. 
  • Stay informed about updates to AP, IB, and standardized exam frameworks and STEM curricula.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of student sessions and academic outcome

 

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a STEM-related field (e.g., Applied Mathematics, Biology, Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Chemistry).
  • Strong knowledge of high school and early college-level STEM curricula.
  • Proven ability to explain complex topics clearly and effectively to students at various grade levels.
  • Experience tutoring or teaching students in an academic setting.
  • Excellent time-management, organizational, and communication skills.

Preferred:

  • Teaching certification or graduate-level coursework in a STEM subject or education.
  • Experience with AP/IB teaching or tutoring.
  • Familiarity with digital instruction tools (e.g., Zoom, Google Classroom, Desmos, PhET, coding platforms).
  • Demonstrated results in improving student outcomes in STEM disciplines.
  • Experience participating in STEM olympiad, such as AMC, BioOlympiad, F=ma, etc. 

 

Working Conditions

  • Full-time (40 hours/week), with potential for after-school and weekend sessions to meet student availability.
  • Flexible location options: in-person, remote, or hybrid, depending on institutional structure and student needs.
