Polysomnographic Technologist

A registered polysomnographic technologist works under the general supervision of the department manager/lead tech to provide comprehensive evaluation and treatment of sleep diagnostic and therapeutic interventions, comprehensive patient care and direct patient education. The registered polysomnographic technologist is credentialed in sleep technology by the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists (BRPT).

Qualifications:

Education: Diploma or degree in college level science field of polysomnography, electroneurodiagnostics or completion of degree and licensure in health care.

Experience: Six months experience in Sleep Disorders Center preferred.

License(s)/Certification(s): Registered Polysomnographic Technician or registry eligible.

Board certified by the Board of Registration of Polysomnographic Technologist (BRPT) must be obtained within first year of employment.

Must become Iowa Licensed in Polysomnographic Technology under the regulations set forth in Iowa House File 203.
