The Youth STEM Instructor Assistant supports the delivery of a rigorous summer STEM education program serving underserved Black and Latino middle school students in Washington, DC. Responsibilities include co-facilitating lessons using provided curriculum materials, supporting scholars with Python programming exercises and debugging, assisting with basic electronics and physical computing activities (Raspberry Pi, breadboarding, sensors), grading and providing feedback on coding assignments and project work, and maintaining a supportive classroom environment. The intern will work directly with two lead STEM Instructors across a six-week, full-day program. Technologies used include Python, Pygame, Raspberry Pi (MicroPython), Linux, and open-source development tools. A working knowledge of Python or another Turing-complete programming language is required; familiarity with electronics is preferred but can be learned on the job.
