Overview
The United States Navy is seeking highly motivated graduate students in Entomology, Biology, Environmental Health, Vector Biology, or related scientific disciplines to serve as commissioned officers through the Health Services Collegiate Program (HSCP).
The HSCP provides financial support and active-duty benefits to qualified students while they complete their graduate education and prepare to become officers in Navy Medicine. This program offers students the opportunity to receive a monthly salary and military benefits while pursuing advanced education and preparing for a rewarding career supporting global public health and operational readiness.
Upon completion of educational and commissioning requirements, participants may serve as Navy Medical Entomologists responsible for protecting Sailors, Marines, and deployed forces from vector-borne diseases and environmental health threats worldwide.
Health Services Collegiate Program (HSCP) Incentives

Roles and Responsibilities
As a Navy Medical Entomologist, responsibilities may include:
• Conducting vector surveillance and disease prevention programs
• Identifying and controlling insects and pests that threaten force health protection
• Supporting operational readiness through environmental health assessments
• Advising commanders on vector-borne disease risks and mitigation strategies
• Conducting field investigations and public health inspections
• Supporting humanitarian missions and global health initiatives
• Collaborating with preventive medicine and environmental health teams worldwide
Requirements to Become a Navy Commissioned Officer
Applicants must generally meet the following qualifications:
• United States citizen
• Accepted to or enrolled in an accredited graduate program related to Entomology or Biological Sciences
• Meet Navy medical and physical fitness standards
• Eligible to obtain a security clearance
• Demonstrate strong moral character and leadership potential
• Able to commission before age 42 (waivers may be considered)
• Successfully complete Navy officer accession requirements
