FLUPSY Technician

Jamestown Point Whitney Venture is seeking a motivated and dependable FLUPSY Technician to support daily shellfish operations and maintenance activities. This hands-on position plays an important role in maintaining shellfish systems and equipment while supporting oyster seed production, inventory tracking, harvesting, and sales activities.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working outdoors, thrives in a team environment, and is interested in marine operations and shellfish aquaculture.

Essential Functions

Maintain cleanliness of shellfish bins and FLUPSY structure

Sort shellfish by size and species

Track and report inventory

Maintain company assets in good operational condition including pumps, motors, and various tools

Facilitate oyster seed sales

Adhere to all policies and procedures, including standards for safety and work practices

Perform additional duties as assigned

Requirements

High School Diploma or equivalent required; courses in Life Sciences preferred

Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry

Exceptional interpersonal skills including effective verbal and written communication

Ability to work independently and within a team setting

Self-starter with the ability to multi-task

Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office Excel and Word

Ability to travel locally and regionally as assigned

Valid Driver’s License

Must be able to successfully pass a criminal background investigation

Preferred Qualifications

Maritime operations experience preferred

Systems maintenance experience preferred

Construction, electrical, and plumbing experience preferred

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions

Ability and willingness to endure harsh field conditions and work outdoors on marine waters in various weather conditions throughout all seasons

Must be able to swim

Must be available to work any shift, including weekends and holidays, as job duties require

Must be able to lift, push, and carry up to 50 lbs. unassisted

Ability to access all areas of the property applicable to the position

Ability to withstand prolonged standing, sitting, walking, bending, climbing, squatting, and twisting without restriction

Requires eye/hand coordination and manual dexterity

Must have the ability to reach at or below/above shoulder level on a continuous basis

Ability to work in a fast-paced and sometimes stressful environment while maintaining professionalism and meeting deadlines
