Substitute Teacher: $220.00/daily rate
Dedicated Substitutes: $235.00/daily rate
Long Term Substitute: $250.00/daily rate
Teacher of Record: $250.00/daily rate
TPSL Teacher: $250.00/daily rate
Requirements / Qualifications
- One of the following:
- Substitute Teaching Permit, or a California Teaching Credential
- Multiple Subject, Single Subject
- Educational Special Education Specialist
- To qualify for a Substitute Teaching Permit:
- BA/BS or higher from an accredited college or university (verified by an official transcript).
- *Completion of the basic skills requirement (CBEST or Multiple Subject CSET) and completion of the appropriate Credentialing (CCTC) application 41-4. CBEST testing information is online at www.cbest.nesinc.com. *The basic skills requirement is NOT required for a 30-day Substitute Teacher Permit. The basic skills requirement IS required for an Emergency Substitute Permit for Prospective Teachers.)
- Completion of the Livescan fingerprinting process for CCTC, total fee $64.00 ($32.00 DOJ / $17.00 FBI / $15.00 processing fee).
- Payment of the required fees, currently $102.50 (fees are established by the CCTC).

There will be fees for fingerprinting services for any person applying for a substitute or temporary position with SJCOE. The fee for a Certificated Substitute/Temp is $47.00.
Teacher applicants need the following required materials:
- Proof of a BA, and/or a copy of a valid CA substitute permit or teaching credential.
- Copy of Transcript (Copy of ALL College Transcript(s) - do not attach diploma(s))
- Credential Copy (attach credential/permit (if you hold a valid document))
- Letter of Introduction
- Letter(s) of Recommendation (Three (3) Professional Letters)
