Software Engineering Intern
Health Data Max is seeking a motivated **Software Engineering Intern – Python & Microsoft Azure** to join our growing technology team.
The intern will work alongside our engineering team to develop Python-based cloud applications, support Azure infrastructure, build automated deployment workflows, and contribute to secure healthcare data-processing solutions.
## Key Responsibilities
* Develop and maintain Python-based automation scripts, APIs, and cloud applications.
* Build Azure Functions for processing, validating, transforming, and ingesting healthcare data, including flat files and medical chart information.
* Assist with the development and maintenance of CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions and Azure DevOps.
* Containerize applications using Docker and support deployments through Azure Container Registry.
* Deploy and maintain applications using Azure App Service and Azure Function Apps.
* Assist with configuring secure Azure environments, including virtual networks, private endpoints, Azure Bastion, Key Vault, and managed identities.
* Support application monitoring, troubleshooting, testing, and performance optimization.
* Participate in code reviews, technical documentation, and engineering team meetings.
* Collaborate with product, engineering, infrastructure, and healthcare-domain teams to improve data workflows and application delivery.
* Research and evaluate new Azure services, development tools, and cloud-security practices.
## Required Qualifications
* Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, Information Systems, Cloud Computing, Biomedical Informatics, or a related field at a U.S. university.
* Working knowledge of Python.
* Basic understanding of REST APIs, data processing, object-oriented programming, and software-development principles.
* Familiarity with Microsoft Azure through coursework, certifications, labs, internships, or personal projects.
* Understanding of Git and collaborative software-development workflows.
* Interest in cloud computing, DevOps, healthcare technology, or artificial intelligence.
* Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
* Ability to learn new technologies and work effectively in a remote, collaborative environment.
## Preferred Qualifications
Experience or academic exposure to one or more of the following is preferred but not required:
* Azure Functions, Azure App Service, Azure Storage, or Azure DevOps
* GitHub Actions or other CI/CD tools
* Docker and containerized application development
* Azure Container Registry
* SQL, NoSQL, MongoDB, or Azure Cosmos DB
* FastAPI, Flask, or similar Python web frameworks
* Azure Key Vault, managed identities, virtual networks, and private endpoints
* Microsoft Intune or endpoint-management concepts
* Healthcare data, medical records, claims data, EHR data, HL7, FHIR, or HIPAA
* Data engineering, artificial intelligence, machine learning, or large language models
* Unit testing, application monitoring, and technical documentation
