Learning Content Developer

POSITION DESCRIPTION - LEARNING CONTENT DEVELOPER

Steak’n Shake is a classic American brand and we intend to lead and dominate the premium burger and milkshake segment of the restaurant industry. With more than 400 locations, uniting behind this shared vision requires active and engaging onboarding and training resources that are quickly deployed, easily tracked, and fun to use at every level of the field organization. The Learning Content Developer will build creative and easy to use training materials for a variety of internal audiences, including crew members, shift managers, general managers, and Franchise Partners.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Learning Design

• Analyze, design, develop, implement, and evaluate training activations that improve specific restaurant service and production gaps.
• Use principles of instructional design, adult learning theory, and active training to create engaging learning activities and compelling course content for use in restaurant to stand up new hires, and develop cross station functionality across a team of workers and leaders.
• Set instructional end goals and create content that requires the learner to adopt the knowledge, skills, and attitudes required to achieve them.
• Create exercises, activities and games with supporting material and media that enhance the learning process.
• Create tests, quizzes, and observational matrices to assist in the design, development, and delivery of appropriate interventions to learning gaps
• Manage existing learning technologies such as LMS, WordPress websites, and Ops Manual.
• Maintain training documentation accuracy and modernity for key stakeholder access.
• Report curricula results, providing comparison context at the Market, Division, Restaurant levels, and top learning outcome misses for continuous improvement.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION / CERTIFICATON

• Master’s degree preferred; Bachelor’s degree required in education, instructional design, learning technology, business, or computer science.
• CPLP/APLP or similar certification preferred.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE

• Basic knowledge of Quick Service Restaurant Operations
• Advanced knowledge of Instructional Design, and Adult Learning principles
• Advanced applied knowledge of Microsoft Office and WordPress
• Intermediate eLearning Authoring Software skills such as Articulate 360, Adobe Captivate, or similar.
• Intermediate knowledge of Evaluating Learning using the Kirkpatrick or TD.org Model
• Intermediate knowledge of Bloom’s Taxonomy of Learning

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

• 3 years’ experience with using Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Power Point and Word.
• 2+ years experience in creating active learning training experiences using eLearning authoring software.
• Proven success in creating, facilitating, and presenting information to Director level or higher in formal, face-to-face forums.

• Very strong oral and written communication skills
• Proficiency with PC’s and Microsoft Office suite
• Proven success presenting to senior level contacts

• Flexibility and the ability to work well under deadlines
• Creative in the development and presentation of training program deliverables
• Ability to create strong relationships and network within internal organizations
• Takes direction well, consistently punctual, and highly detail oriented.

WORK SCHEDULES

• 8a-5p EST and must be flexible to meet changing business needs.
• The ability to work on evenings, holidays, and extra hours as needed.

TRAVEL

• Must be available to travel throughout the United States to visit restaurants and participate in learning launches.
