We are seeking a Senior Microsoft SQL Developer to support the modernization of an enterprise tolling transaction platform undergoing a partial rewrite using microservices and modularization.

In this role, you will be a critical part of an Agile/Scrum project team, responsible for developing, optimizing, and modernizing SQL components within a business-critical, high-availability SQL Server environment hosted on Azure Virtual Machines (IaaS). You will work closely with solution architects, cloud engineers, API developers, and QA testers to ensure high performance, scalability, and maintainability of the database platform.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • T-SQL Development & Optimization: Write and tune complex T-SQL queries, stored procedures, functions, and views to support new application capabilities and high-transaction workloads.
  • Performance Tuning: Perform advanced performance tuning, indexing strategies, and query optimization in a business-critical SQL Server environment.
  • Modernization & Support: Modernize existing SQL components and database models to support modular, scalable architecture while maintaining legacy SQL code and structures.
  • Integration & Microservices: Collaborate with .NET Core/C# developers to implement efficient data access patterns and seamless API/database integrations.
  • ETL & Data Pipelines: Build and support data migration scripts, ETL logic, and integration solutions using SSIS and Databricks.
  • High Availability & Security: Maintain high-availability environments using Always On Availability Groups, ensure PCI compliance, and enforce data retention rules.
  • DevOps Integration: Deploy SQL database updates via CI/CD pipelines utilizing Azure DevOps and GitHub workflows.

 

Qualifications & Required Experience

  • 7+ Years of enterprise-level SQL Server development experience.
  • Azure IaaS Experience: Hands-on experience developing and maintaining SQL Server running on Azure VMs.
  • High Availability: Proven experience supporting High Availability architectures (Always On Availability Groups).
  • Modernization & Legacy Code: Experience refactoring and modernizing legacy database code and schemas for microservices/domain-driven architectures.
  • ETL Expertise: Hands-on experience developing ETL solutions using SSIS and Databricks.
  • Development Collaboration: Strong background collaborating with .NET Core/C# development teams.
  • CI/CD Pipelines: Experience delivering database updates using Azure DevOps or GitHub workflows.
  • Compliance & Security: Knowledge of PCI compliance standards and database security protocols.
  • Agile Workflows: Strong familiarity working within Agile/Scrum sprint frameworks.

 

Preferred Skills

  • Infrastructure as Code (IaC) experience using Terraform for SQL deployments.
  • Experience with scaling strategies in high-transaction environments.
