Entry-Level Legal Assistant/Future Paralegal

Job Title: Entry-Level Legal Assistant / Future Paralegal

Location: Arlington, VA (Washington, D.C. Area) - On-site Position Type: Full-Time

About Us: We are BRAVLIN LAW, a highly respected and established business and family immigration law firm located in the Washington, D.C. area. For over 30 years, we have built a stellar reputation by delivering exceptional results for our clients. Our practice is highly focused and efficient—we specialize exclusively in business and family immigration and do not handle removal defense cases. At BRAVLIN LAW, we pride ourselves on our streamlined operations, collaborative environment, and unwavering dedication to top-tier legal work.

The Opportunity: Your "Foot in the Door" Breaking into the legal field can be incredibly frustrating, and most law firms require years of prior paralegal experience just to get an interview. We are taking a different approach.

We are actively seeking a bright, highly organized, and ambitious professional who wants to learn immigration law from the ground up. This role is designed as a stepping stone for someone planning to attend law school in the next 2 to 3 years, or for a driven professional seeking to build a long-term career as an immigration paralegal. We are fully willing to train the right candidate. In exchange for your hard work and willingness to handle the administrative heavy lifting, you will receive hands-on mentorship from practitioners with decades of experience, gaining a massive head start on your legal career. In the world of AI, gaining valuable experience is the key for entry into any occupation.

What You Will Do: As an Entry-Level Legal Assistant, you will play a critical role in our firm's daily operations and case management. Your duties include preparing and filing legal documents, managing case files, communicating with clients, and scheduling appointments.

Your role will encompass three major components. You will take on these responsibilities progressively; your advancement to the next component is subject entirely to your successful performance, mastery of our systems, and demonstrated proficiency in the prior tasks.

Component 1: Administrative & Assembly

Front Office & Communication: Answer phone calls, respond to client inquiries, schedule appointments, and follow up with clients regarding routine administrative matters.

Physical Filing: Gather, copy, organize, and compile supporting documents for applications, petitions, and filings. Because USCIS requires heavy physical submissions, you will be in charge of printing, tabbing, assembling, and mailing comprehensive petition/application filings for attorney review.

Tracking & Data Entry: Log tracking numbers, receipt notices, and update firm-wide deadlines using our case management software.

Component 2: Client Communication & Intake

Document Chasing: Act as the primary point of contact in our intake software, guiding clients to upload necessary documents and completing digital questionnaires, uploading final applications to clients for their review and and approval before filing.

File Organization: Ensure client files are 100% complete and organized before passing them to our Senior Paralegals and Attorneys.

Component 3: Legal Drafting

Document Preparation: Train directly with our Senior Paralegals to utilize our drafting software to prepare initial drafts of support letters and organize digital evidence packets.

Drafting: Input information into immigration forms and compile the final filing for attorney review.

What We Are Looking For:

Education & Academic Excellence: A Bachelor's degree is required, and a strong GPA is highly preferred as an indicator of the meticulous attention to detail required in this role. We strongly prefer candidates with degrees in Political Science, International Affairs, Economics, English, History, Foreign Languages, or Business Administration.

Language Skills: Fluency in a foreign language is preferred, but not necessary.

Future Attorney or Career Paralegal: You either plan to attend law school in the next few years or you are eager to establish a long-term career as an expert immigration paralegal.

No Prior Legal Experience Required: We will train you on everything.

Incredible Attention to Detail: Immigration law is unforgiving with typos and missed deadlines. You must be highly organized and meticulous.

Willingness to "Do the Work": You understand that making copies, assembling applications and supporting evidence, and answering phones are critical parts of learning how a law firm operates.

Tech-Savvy: You are comfortable learning new software platforms quickly.

How to Apply (Please Read Carefully): Far too many applicants send their resumes blindly without reading the job instructions. As a test of your attention to detail, you must submit the following three items to be considered:

  1. Resume.
  2. College Transcript (We heavily weigh academic rigor and attention to detail).
  3. A Cover Letter specifically explaining why you are interested in the field of immigration law. Write the cover letter on your own without AI's assistance. We want to hear from your heart, not from the AI, about why you are passionate about immigration.

Note: We will NOT open the resume if the transcript and cover letter are missing.
