Special Education Teacher
Each year new families are inspired by the mission and vision of Woodbury Leadership Academy! WLA continues to grow and to meet our increasing needs, we are currently looking to fill open positions with highly qualified and dedicated individuals.
Woodbury Leadership Academy utilizes leadership based programs and strategies grounded in solid research, combined with the demonstrated success of Core Knowledge curriculum as the basis of a rigorous program that builds strong skills in math, reading, literature, writing, music, science and technology. WLA is a school where students and graduates become exceptional leaders, and are prepared to take on the academic and leadership challenges they will face as they transition into high school.
Our staff is highly collaborative with a robust professional learning community and established behavior and academic intervention teams. WLA is a student-uniform school; our students are kind, respectful and responsible as well as motivated to succeed. New staff receive orientation and training prior to starting along with a variety of support throughout the year; this has helped create one of the best instructional teams in the state.

SECTION III: QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS________________
- Experience as a classroom teacher – preferred
- Experience with diverse groups of learners - preferred
- Experience with high academic performing students –preferred
- Has a clear understanding regarding assessments driving the instructional process – preferred
- Demonstrates clear understanding of Data Driven Instruction (or ability and desire to learn quickly) - preferred
- Ability to provide rigorous academic instruction for ALL students –required
- Experience with Core Knowledge curriculum - preferred
- Exceptional communication skills (verbal and written) - required
- Strong technology skills – required
- Highly organized with strong time management and multitasking skills -required
- Must work well with other school personnel, as well as with the public - required
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and to work efficiently under pressure – required
SECTION IV: DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES______________________________
- Promote the WLA Academy Mission/Vision
- Program Development - Implement Core Knowledge programming including the use of assessments, differentiated, project based, and experiential instructional strategies. Collaborate with English Language Learner and Special Education Staff to provide general instruction for ALL students.
- Professional Development – Participate in staff training on a variety of topics in order for the Core Knowledge curriculum to be delivered with fidelity, and the school to run effectively. Participate in meetings as needed including, but not limited to Department meetings, Child Find, RtI, PLCs, and Staff Meetings
- Interact with students, families and all appropriate stakeholders to regularly communicate student progress
- Other Duties as Assigned
