Social Media / Web Coordinator

The Social Media and Website Coordinator is an unclassified position reporting to the Director of Communications. This position is responsible for a variety of responsibilities including, but not limited to, website maintenance, social media presence, and video development to support the Kansas Department of Labor.

Core Responsibilities:

Social Media

  • Manage the day-to-day operations of KDOL's social media accounts including, but not limited to, usernames, passwords, inboxes, etc.
  • Create and share a social media calendar based on the strategic plan developed by the Director.
  • Design and post social media content/graphics from the social media calendar, campaigns and events.
  • Monitor social media posts.
  • Maintain unified brand voice across different social media channels.
  • Execute emergency messaging when needed.
  • Review analytics and create reports on key metrics.

Website

  • Develop and maintain content on website.
  • Serve as key contact to communicate approved content to the public when IT problems arise.

Video

  • Create and edit videos as needed.

Other

  • Serve as backup to the Graphic Designer.
  • Serve as back up to the Director for duties such as meetings with division directors and the GO.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Four (4) years experience in a communications, graphic design, marketing or related field. 
  • Valid driver's license

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing or related field.
  • 2-5 years’ experience as a social media coordinator or similar role in a professional setting

Special Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent knowledge of Facebook, X, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube and other social media platforms
  • Social media best practices, emerging trends and strategies
  • Strong understanding of social media key performance indicators, analytics, tracking and reporting
  • Excellent written, verbal and visual communication skills
  • Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite - Word, Outlook and Excel
  • Knowledge of Canva, Granicus, and Adobe Creative Suite
