POSITION SUMMARY

Recent advancements in biomedical technologies are generating vast amounts of multimodal data, paving the way for a deeper, systems-level understanding of human health. We are seeking a highly skilled Postdoc Scholar or Research Scientist to join the Yurkovich Lab for Applied Systems BioAI. Our research harnesses artificial intelligence and systems science to drive health innovation.
We are looking for a candidate with a strong background in synthetic and computational biology who is excited to translate complex biology into actionable AI. In this role, you will be instrumental in annotating, organizing, and democratizing multimodal biological data using knowledge graphs to pioneer new technologies. This position uniquely bridges academia and industry, as your work will leverage knowledge graphs and AI technologies to support both applied research efforts and the development of new commercial initiatives.

Responsibilities
- Translate synthetic biology data and complex biological mechanisms into frameworks optimized for artificial intelligence and machine learning models.
- Design, build, and implement advanced knowledge graphs and network models to integrate and analyze complex, multimodal biological data.
- Leverage machine learning, AI, and large language models to extract actionable insights from large-scale biomedical datasets.
- Spearhead the technical transition of biological research into viable commercial AI products and solutions.
- Collaborate closely with AI scientists and domain experts to translate complex biological questions into quantitative network and mathematical models.
- Design, develop, and test software applications and data pipelines using object-oriented programming languages and software engineering best practices.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in artificial intelligence, graph theory, computational modeling, and systems biology.
Qualifications
- PhD in Biotechnology, Synthetic Biology, Systems Biology, Bioengineering, or a related field.
- Strong foundation and demonstrated expertise in synthetic biology and computational biology.
- Experience building, querying, or analyzing knowledge graphs and complex networks
- Proficiency in machine learning and AI techniques
- Experience in Python
- Experience in software engineering
- Familiarity with biological data, biomedicine, and/or longevity research is highly preferred
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills
- Strong communication, writing, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work both independently and as a highly collaborative part of a team
Compensation & Benefits
- $75,000 to $110,000 annual salary depending on skills and experience.
