Pay rate: $28 - $33 per hour

Location: Houston, TX

Job Summary

We are seeking a Laboratory Technician to support the development, testing, validation, and qualification of process technologies used in oil, gas, and separation applications.

Job Description

  • Support the development, testing, validation, and qualification of new and existing process technologies through laboratory experimentation.
  • Prepare test equipment, process fluids, chemical solutions, consumables, and samples in accordance with approved procedures.
  • Set up, operate, monitor, and safely shut down laboratory test equipment and experimental systems.
  • Conduct laboratory tests to verify technology, product, and process designs, including testing of gas- and liquid-based process samples.
  • Accurately record operating conditions, observations, measurements, and test results.
  • Prepare test worksheets, laboratory records, data summaries, computer-generated reports, and technical presentation materials.
  • Assist engineers and scientists with non-routine testing, troubleshooting investigations, and technology qualification activities.
  • Communicate test progress, equipment issues, unusual observations, and preliminary findings to the responsible engineer or supervisor.
  • Inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, and calibrate laboratory equipment and verify equipment readiness before testing.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe laboratory work areas.
  • Manage laboratory inventories, supplies, chemicals, spare parts, and consumables.
  • Properly handle, label, store, and dispose of chemicals, fluids, solids, and laboratory waste in accordance with approved procedures.
  • Follow applicable risk assessments, standard operating procedures, work instructions, organizational policies, and Quality, Health, Safety, and Environment (QHSE) requirements.
  • Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and complete all required safety and technical training.
  • Participate in safety and operational reviews and promptly report hazards, spills, equipment failures, and unsafe conditions.

Skills Required

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience working in a laboratory, plant, or comparable hands-on testing environment.
  • Relevant experience may include: Analytical laboratory environments, Industrial laboratories, chemical or petrochemical testing,environmental testing laboratories, Process testing, other hands-on laboratory or technical testing environments
  • Must be a local candidate in the Houston, Texas area.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel.
  • Familiarity with laboratory equipment, measurement instruments, test procedures, and data-recording practices.
  • Experience working with process fluids, chemicals, or gas and liquid testing systems.
  • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with engineers, scientists, technicians, and other team members.
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments and priorities simultaneously.
  • Understanding of safe laboratory practices and proper handling of chemicals and process fluids.

Education

  • Required: High school diploma or GED and at least two years of laboratory experience, or
  • Associate degree in a related field, such as: Laboratory Technology, Chemistry, Biology, Engineering Technology, Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM), or a related technical discipline
