Director of OperationsPosition: Full-TimeReports To: Co-PastorsLocation: Washington, DCPOSITION OVERVIEWThe Director of Operations provides senior-level leadership and oversight for the operational life of King's Church. This individual is responsible for ensuring that the church's staff, systems, facilities, Sunday gatherings, and ministry operations function effectively and efficiently in support of the church's mission.Working closely with the Co-Pastors and ministry leaders, the Director of Operations oversees the church's day-to-day operations while developing the organizational structures, processes, and teams necessary to support continued growth.This position combines church-wide operational leadership with direct oversight of Sunday operations, including service logistics, production coordination, volunteer teams, facilities, and event execution.The ideal candidate is a spiritually mature, highly organized, relationally gifted leader who demonstrates strong initiative, sound judgment, and the ability to lead both people and processes. This individual should be equally comfortable developing organizational strategy, managing staff, solving problems, and ensuring that practical details are executed with excellence.As King's Church continues to grow, this role is expected to expand in responsibility and organizational leadership. Church Operations & Strategic LeadershipProvide leadership and oversight for the day-to-day operations of King's Church.Work closely with the Co-Pastors to implement organizational priorities, strategic initiatives, and ministry objectives.Develop, evaluate, and improve church-wide systems, processes, policies, and procedures.Oversee operational planning, resource allocation, and coordination across ministry departments.Identify organizational needs and proactively develop solutions that strengthen effectiveness and sustainability.Establish clear operational expectations, accountability structures, and communication processes across staff and ministries.Assist in planning for future organizational growth, including staffing, facilities, and ministry expansion.2. Sunday Services & Production OperationsProvide overall leadership and oversight for the operational execution of Sunday gatherings.Oversee Sunday service logistics, including setup and teardown, hospitality, security, production, Kingdom Kids operations, and other Sunday service teams.Lead and coordinate staff, contractors, and volunteer leaders responsible for Sunday operations.Provide direct operational oversight of the production team, including audiovisual systems, livestream, lighting, and technical coordination.Collaborate with pastoral and worship leadership to ensure Sunday gatherings are well-planned and executed.Oversee Sunday volunteer scheduling, recruitment coordination, training systems, and team development.Develop and maintain Sunday operational procedures, safety protocols, and contingency plans.Ensure Sunday environments are welcoming, organized, safe, and prepared to serve the congregation.Oversee operational planning for special services, baptisms, holidays, and other significant gatherings.Regularly evaluate and improve Sunday systems to support the church's continued growth.3. Staff Leadership & Organizational ManagementProvide direct supervision and leadership to assigned administrative, operational, and support staff.Oversee staff responsible for administration, scheduling, communications, production operations, and ministry logistics.Conduct regular meetings with direct reports to establish priorities, provide feedback, and ensure accountability.Develop clear job responsibilities, workflows, and performance expectations for operational staff.Coordinate staff schedules, administrative policies, and organizational procedures.Serve as a key point of coordination between pastoral leadership, ministry directors, and support staff.Foster a healthy, collaborative, and mission-driven staff culture.Support staff hiring, onboarding, training, and organizational development as directed by pastoral leadership.4. Facilities & Resource ManagementOversee the operational management of church facilities, offices, and Sunday gathering spaces.Manage relationships with landlords, venue representatives, contractors, and service providers.Coordinate facility maintenance, repairs, equipment needs, and operational improvements.Oversee the acquisition, maintenance, storage, and management of church equipment and supplies.Ensure appropriate safety, security, and emergency procedures are established and maintained.Coordinate facility usage, scheduling, and logistical requirements for church ministries and events.Assist pastoral leadership with long-term facility planning, including future expansion, relocation, or permanent facility development.5. Church-Wide Events & Ministry SupportOversee operational planning and execution for major church-wide events, conferences, retreats, and ministry initiatives.Work alongside ministry leaders to establish event plans, timelines, budgets, staffing, and logistical needs.Develop standardized event planning processes and systems that support ministry effectiveness.Coordinate staff, contractors, and volunteers to ensure events are executed effectively.Provide operational support to ministries including Kingdom Kids, Small Groups, College Ministry, Men's and Women's Ministries, Good Neighbor, and other church initiatives.Oversee operational logistics for ministry events while empowering ministry leaders to provide ministry-specific direction.Ensure ministries have the administrative support, resources, and systems necessary to accomplish their objectives.6. Administration, Finance & Organizational SystemsOversee the church's core administrative functions, including scheduling, internal communications, record management, and organizational workflows.Provide oversight for administrative systems and church management software, including Planning Center and other organizational platforms.Work with pastoral leadership and financial personnel to assist in operational budgeting, expense management, and responsible resource stewardship.Oversee purchasing processes, reimbursements, vendor payments, and operational expenditures in coordination with designated financial personnel.Ensure appropriate administrative policies and financial procedures are maintained.Identify opportunities to improve administrative efficiency through technology, delegation, and process improvements.Maintain organizational documentation, procedures, and operational records.ADDITIONAL EXPECTATIONSMaintain regular office hours and participate actively in staff meetings and organizational planning.Be present and actively engaged in Sunday gatherings.Demonstrate flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends as ministry needs require.Participate in the spiritual and relational life of King's Church.Model servant-hearted leadership, humility, and a commitment to the mission of the church.Carry out additional responsibilities as assigned by the Co-Pastors.OPPORTUNITY FOR FUTURE LEADERSHIPKing's Church is seeking a leader who can grow alongside the church and help develop the operational infrastructure necessary for its long-term health and mission.As the church continues to expand, this position may develop into a broader executive leadership role with increased responsibility for staff management, organizational strategy, and ministry coordination.For a biblically qualified male candidate, this could include consideration for an Executive Pastor role in the future. Such a transition would be distinct from the Director of Operations position and would require meeting the church's biblical qualifications for pastoral leadership, as well as the appropriate process of elder evaluation and appointment.
