TELEWORK/ON-SITE OPPORTUNITY
The Fiscal Specialist job classification is eligible for a combination of telework and on-site work assignments after 6 months of employment for employees who are in good standing. Telework must be completed from a pre-designated home-based location within the State of California and employees may be required to report on-site to address business needs.
Telework is at the sole discretion of the Court and may be rescinded with 48 hours' notice, based on needs of the Orange County Superior Court.
ABOUT THE POSITION
Under limited supervision, the Fiscal Specialist performs a variety of specialized and responsible duties related reviewing and auditing payment information and legal documents, collecting and reconciles monies, reviewing and resolving discrepancies, reviewing, and updating case information; providing customer service, and maintains financial logs; and performs a variety of administrative and paraprofessional duties within area of assignment.
Duties for the classification may include, but are not limited to:
- Maintains a variety of fiscal records and documents within their area of assignment; extracts, posts, adjusts, audits, receives, refunds, classifies, and reconciles entries; uses various forms of technology including select case management systems and DMV software to perform daily duties; performs a variety of mathematical calculations.
- Interprets complex and/or varied source documents, regulations and procedures and applies these to varied or difficult circumstances including decisions as to which formula or regulation should be applied.
- Reviews fiscal documents prepared by others; may have responsibility for final review of fiscal documents prepared in other departments and for auditing and correcting information submitted.
- Independently recognizes and resolves problems within their area of assignment; recognizes and questions unusual items or charges and exercises initiative in following up to research a variety of sources to locate the cause and determine or recommend appropriate corrective action; takes corrective action within established limits.
- Interfaces with the public and other agencies/departments in an advisory role within their area of assignment; explains complex fiscal systems or procedures in varying situations to others or requiring the resolution of problems.
- Acts as a resource to staff in the interpretation of regulations and procedures and the processing of work; serves as the final check and expert within the specialized/technical area of assignment.
- Makes decisions within established limits in a specialized area based on specialized knowledge or general knowledge of fiscal needs.
