The Corpus Christi Police Department is looking for you. The CCPD offers a paid thirty-four week Police Academy, with a highly competitive salary and benefits, including fully paid health care immediately upon hire. A first-year cadet/police officer earns approximately $56,184 base pay, not including additional incentive pay and pay increases to follow the second year with regular step increases thereafter.

CCPD offers multiple opportunities for rapid career growth. Specialized units such as the Bike Team, Dive Team, K-9 Handler, Hostage Negotiation Team, SWAT, Bomb Squad, Gang Unit, and Traffic Unit are available within your first years of service.

SALARY (First-year base pay) $56,184

Paid thirty-four-week paid police academy.

The first-year cadet/police officer earns approximately (base pay) $56,184, with an increase to follow the second year, with regular step increases thereafter.

Four-day, forty-hour work week upon Academy graduation.

Additional/incentive pays include education pay, shift differential, weekend pay, longevity pay, SWAT team, hostage negotiation, dive team, field training officer pay, bomb squad pay, and breathalyzer operator,

PAID LEAVE

EDUCATION

High School Diploma or

General Educational Development (G.E.D.)

CITIZENSHIP
Must be a United States citizen.

BACKGROUND
Corpus Christi Police Department Officers are responsible for keeping our city safe from crime and corruption. Therefore, a history of ethical and moral behavior is paramount. Candidates with a history of unethical or immoral behavior will not be hired. Successful candidates must pass a thorough background investigation, including a polygraph exam, reference check, and work history review.

Responsibilities

  • Enforce laws and ordinances to maintain public safety and order.
  • Conduct patrols to monitor and prevent criminal activity.
  • Respond to emergency calls and provide assistance as needed.
  • Write detailed reports on incidents and investigations.
  • Utilize conflict management skills to de-escalate tense situations.
  • Continuously update knowledge of laws and procedures to ensure effective law enforcement.
