About the Job – Your Role
In this critical role, you will be responsible for the design, installation, administration, technical support, and maintenance of all electronic security systems throughout the facility. This includes alarm systems, surveillance cameras, voice and data systems, as well as the associated networked computer equipment and software.
You will install and upgrade operating systems, troubleshoot complex hardware and software issues both on-site and off-site, and ensure all systems function securely and efficiently. The position also requires availability for emergency, after-hours calls to address urgent system failures or reprogramming needs that could impact institutional security. You will work collaboratively with Department of Corrections staff and foster a professional, respectful work environment—maintaining positive communication and a supportive attitude toward staff, adults in custody (AICs), and the general public.
This position is represented by American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees (AFSCME). This position may be eligible for Police & Fire (P&F) benefits through Public Employees Retirement System (PERS), as defined by statute.
Minimum Qualifications
Possession of a current Limited Maintenance Electrician (LME) electrical license or appropriate limited journeyman electrician’s license for work assigned (e.g. LEA, LEB) issued by the Oregon Building Codes Division AND six (6) years of experience in the installation, maintenance, or repair of manual and computer controlled electronic systems; OR
A General Journeyman Electrician license AND six (6) years of experience in the installation, maintenance, or repair of manual and computer controlled electronic systems.
Requested Skills
- Experience in installing, configuring, and maintaining electronic security systems and/or IT infrastructure.
- Proficient in troubleshooting technical systems, both hardware and software-related.
- Strong knowledge of access control, alarm, and surveillance systems.
- Ability to interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and system schematics.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and a high attention to detail.
- Professional demeanor and ability to work in a secure, structured environment.

The salary range listed above is for non-PERS qualifying applicants. PERS qualifying applicants may be eligible for an adjusted range to reflect an additional 6.95%.
