QUALIFICATIONS:           1. Meet qualifications as set by state certification authorities and 

the School Board.

                                                2. Have the ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in 

writing.

                                                3. Possess the ability to establish and maintain effective working 

relationships with students, staff, parents, and the public.

                                                4. Have the ability to perform the essential functions of the job, 

which may include standing, sitting, walking, and kneeling for long periods of time.

                                                5. Have the ability to work in a stressful environment.

 

REPORTS TO:                     Principal

 

JOB GOAL:                          To teach and support students with reading difficulties, typically working with individuals or small groups to improve their reading skills; to assess students’ reading abilities, develop individualized intervention plans, and collaborate with teachers and other specialists to create a supportive learning environment.

 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBLITLIES:

 

  1. Works collaboratively with teachers, administrators, and other specialists to integrate literacy instruction across the curriculum and provide support for students and staff.
  2. Identifies students struggling with reading and determine their specific needs and areas for improvement.
  3. Develops and implements personalized reading instruction plans based on student needs, using various strategies and materials.
  4. Provides professional development opportunities for teachers and staff on literacy best practices and strategies as requested.
  5. Monitors student progress on a regular basis.
  6. Analyzes data and communicates findings to students, parents, and teachers.
  7. Supports the development of literacy curricula and materials aligned with district goals and student needs.
  8. Designs and implements targeted interventions, such as small group instruction or one-on-one tutoring, to address specific reading challenges.
  9. Assists in upholding and enforcing school rules, administrative regulations, and School Board policy.
  10. Performs other duties as assigned.

 

EVALUATION:                   Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy and evaluation by objective.
