Reading Teacher must be certified in Reading K-12, demonstrating a strong foundation in literacy instruction and a commitment to ongoing professional development. They should possess excellent communication skills, patience, and a passion for helping students achieve their full potential in reading and literacy.
- Developing and implementing literacy programs/curriculum that cater to various reading levels and learning styles within the classroom.
- Assessing students' reading abilities through formal and informal evaluations.
- Creating lesson plans that incorporate reading strategies, phonics, vocabulary, and comprehension skills.
- Providing one-on-one or small group instruction to students who require additional support.
- Collaborating with other educators, parents, and specialists to support student learning.
- Encouraging a love of reading by introducing diverse genres and culturally relevant texts.
- Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress and classroom activities.
- Collaborate with colleagues and participate in departmental meetings and professional development opportunities.
Must be a certified teacher and have reading endorsement (or working towards it).
