Director of Music Ministries

Hours: Full-Time

Salary: Starting at $50,000

Position Summary:

First Methodist Church of Texarkana, TX, is seeking a passionate and gifted individual to serve as our Director of Music Ministries. This role is responsible for developing and leading the traditional worship experience, fostering a culture of worship that honors the rich traditions of the church while engaging the congregation in meaningful and Spirit-filled worship.

Key Responsibilities:

Establish connections with local musicians and ensembles to find and recruit talent.
Plan, coordinate, and lead the music for the traditional worship service, including hymns, choral anthems, and special music.
Recruit, train, and direct a choir and various other musical ensembles.
Collaborate with the pastor and other worship leaders to plan meaningful and cohesive worship services, including seasonal cantatas.
Provide musical support for special services such as Christmas, Easter, funerals, and weddings as needed, as well as special ministries.
Select appropriate music in alignment with the church’s theology and worship style.
Arrange hymns for a variety of ensembles (brass, strings, wind, etc.).
Oversee and maintain church instruments, music library, service database, music budget, and choir robes.
Encourage and foster congregational participation in worship.
Ensure compliance with copyright and CCLI regulations.

 


Qualifications:

A strong faith in Christ and a commitment to the mission and values of the church.
A bachelor’s degree in music
Experience in leading traditional worship, directing choirs, and working with musicians.
Proficiency in reading music and conducting
Ability to recruit, train, and direct volunteers for music programs
Strong leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills
