Registered Nurse - Charlottesville Free Clnic

At the Charlottesville Free Clinic, we’re looking for a part-time or full-time nurse who is passionate about health equity and eager to support our mission of caring for uninsured and underinsured neighbors. In this role, you’ll work closely with our dedicated Family Nurse Practitioner to provide hands-on patient care, coordinate follow-up, manage referrals, and help our clinic run smoothly.

Phlebotomy skills are a plus, but not required. Spanish skills are a plus, but not required.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Work with our staff Nurse Practitioner to coordinate follow-up care for Free Clinic patients. This includes following up on patients' imaging results and scheduling continued care outside the clinic.

Partner with the Free Clinic staff Nurse Practitioner (FNP) during daytime clinic hours. Responsibilities include rooming patients, phlebotomy, charting of care, follow-up of lab results, and providing patient education. 

Support evening clinics (5:30-8:30pm) three evenings each week by serving in the role of head nurse. This role is vital to the continuity of integrated care within the Free Clinic setting.

Assure lab, radiology and referral reports are available in advance of day time and evening patient appointments. 

 

COMPETENCIES:

  • Current licensure as Registered Nurse (BSN or MSN) or similar in the state of Virginia
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in clinical setting (preferred, not required)
  • Strong interpersonal skills, analytical thinking and ability to effectively lead staff
  • Ability to take initiative for new responsibilities and projects
  • Ability to exercise considerable tact and judgment when working with sensitive and confidential information

COMPENSATION

$30.00 to $45.00 per hour, depending on qualifications

HOURS

40 hours

BENEFITS

  • Full Time vacation: 80 hrs per year (pro rated for part time employees)
  • Full Time sick leave: 10 days per fiscal year (July 1 – June 30th)
  • Health Care:      Currently 100% of medical premium for full time employees (pro rated subsidy for part time employees)
  • Life Insurance: $25,000 full time employees
  • IRA: Eligible for 3% match Jan 1 after hiring.
