What I liked
You receive a whole month of training and shadowing (that you are paid for) before you actually start. The director and supervisors of the cottage I work in are all super friendly and helpful. They are very willing to work with your schedule if you are a student, have another job, have kids, etc. It is a team-based environment and most everyone is very willing to help each other out. You are constantly learning something new and it's a very rewarding job. I've grown to be very attached to the kids and it makes me so happy to see them progress by learning new skills and becoming more independent. Everyday can be kind of unpredictable. Some moments can be quite chaotic or busy but other times you may have a lot of down time which can nice if you want to work on homework or read.
